Our mission is to give back to students what belongs to them. The core of our teaching focuses on one’s relationship with others through the author’s words. Words have always been, are, and will always be the tool we use to relate to others, to build the world around us, and to create ourselves. Since we were born, we have learned and used words to survive. This Regular Course is an opportunity to return to what is essential: Communication. To do this, we have structured the course around three vital dynamics: TRAINING: we focus on the inevitable and what no one wants to touch: the text. The text is the birth, the life, and the death of the actor on stage. For us, the text is everything. It is the only reason we come together for class, in rehearsals, and in performances, to honor the author’s words. Words that have been written to be communicated, and not acted. The text is the transformative element. It is through words that we transform ourselves; it is words that create ‘the character’. It is our fellow actors, our audience, the verbs, the stimuli of the space, of the street, of life itself that keep us present, freeing us from our “inner voice,” from fear and ignorance. We train to feel alive, to scream out what cannot be said in life. REHEARSE: This involves creating a show with the material that students are working on in class and staging a play with the Theatre for the People company. PERFORM: A class or rehearsal is meaningless without a scheduled opening night date. At Theatre for the People, we learn by performing in front of a live audience through various productions that take place throughout the year, in both Spanish and English.

Every Thursday at 7:00 p.m., starting October 16th. Monthly fee: 210€. This course is not an English class.
